Principal's Message

A Warm Welcome to the School Year!

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! My name is Amy Kohn and I am honored to be the Principal of Rowena Chess Elementary. I have been in education for 19 years, serving as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and assistant director.  I am excited to be the Principal at Rowena Chess where we strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.    

The Rowena Chess staff is a community of dedicated educators who believe we can make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Not only does the staff collaborate regularly in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to determine the best way to teach each individual child and best meet the students' needs, but we are also committed to developing and supporting partnerships between home and school. We believe these actions are crucial to the success of our students. We welcome your input, ideas, and feedback. Together, we can create a learning community where our children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.    

As we prepare to start this exciting new school year, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and partnership. With your help, I am confident that we will make this year a truly memorable and successful one for our students.
